STUDIO

STUDIO

Amy Broch is a London-based artist working across photography, installation and constructed environments.

Every photograph begins long before the camera is picked up. Objects are gathered from flea markets, thrift stores, supermarkets, hotel rooms and antique markets before finding their way back to the studio, where they are collected, combined and reimagined. Wallpaper is chosen, furniture is rearranged, colours are tested and scenes gradually take shape. The studio functions less as a workspace than as a stage - a place where everyday materials are transformed into meticulously constructed photographic worlds.

She brings together found objects, fashion, consumer packaging, interiors and the human figure to create images that balance humour, theatricality and playful ambiguity.

Drawing on the visual languages of fashion photography, advertising, still life and cinema, Broch transforms familiar materials into richly composed scenes where people and objects share equal status. Vintage furniture sits alongside supermarket packaging, sentimental ornaments meet contemporary consumer culture, and anonymous figures inhabit worlds that feel simultaneously seductive and subtly surreal.

I create images that balance humour, theatricality and playful ambiguity.

– AMY BROCH

Rather than documenting reality, Broch constructs environments bound only by imagination. Her work explores desire, identity and transformation through the material culture of everyday life, inviting viewers to reconsider the emotional lives of ordinary things.

She is also the Founder and Creative Director of JOY Bomb London, an art platform creating public installations, campaigns and participatory experiences centred around joy.
